HKP Motors Work with AI-Powered Tracking Systems to Optimize Solar Energy Applications

Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays an important role in solar panel energy production. In large-scale solar plants, AI is used to optimize efficiency and increase output. AI can predict weather conditions. AI systems, when linked to HKP motors, can adjust the positioning of solar panels to maximize energy capture. 

The motors used in AI-powered tracking systems adjust solar panels to follow the sun's movement throughout the day – ensuring optimal exposure to sunlight. Precise and highly responsive motors are needed to work with AI systems in order to ensure that each solar panel is continuously oriented towards the sun. Motors also drive pumps in cooling systems for solar panels, which is critical to maintain appropriate temperatures for efficient operation.

Solar Motor

Brush DC030B

A series brush commutated DC motor with a 30 mm diameter, that is offered in 3 different lengths with continuous output torques of 0.0113 to 0.0184 Nm.

G35A Gearbox

The G35A is an economical 35 mm offset spur gearbox suitable for lower torque applications. The wide range of sintered steel gear combinations complements HKP brushed motors when speed reduction in required. The G35A is also available in high torque or wide faced gears for increased output loads.

  • Maximum Load torque up to 0.7 Nm in the standard model
  • Load increased to 1.13 Nm in the high torque and up to 1.24 in wide face versions
  • Standard bronze bearings

Options:

  • Special lubrication for extreme conditions
  • Ball bearings for high radial loads

Tracking Systems

The EC057B series brushless motor is a high torque model brushless motor designed in a NEMA 23 package. It is offered in 4 motor lengths with continuous torque from 0.148 - 0.586 Nm.

At some point – all solar farms will utilize AI and machine learning to optimize the efficiency and productivity of solar energy generation. AI not only helps in predicting energy output and optimizing panel positioning, but it also facilitates remote monitoring, which can be used to plan maintenance and also to gain real-time insights into the operational status of each solar panel. 

But the benefits of AI cannot be leveraged without the ability to dynamically adjust the tilt and orientation of solar panels – and this is where HKP motion solutions really shine – regardless of the season, or the time of day.
